Designed by PLP Architecture for Mubadala, the Four Seasons Abu Dhabi is a 144-metre, 34-storey waterfront development encompassing 99,000 m², with 200 hotel rooms and suites and 124 private residences. Construction began in June 2013 and the hotel opened in May 2016, with a reported construction contract of approximately US$200 million and an indicative overall development cost of US$286 million excluding land. The design combines dining, conference and wellness facilities with shaded gardens, a waterfront promenade and façade screens that filter sunlight. A key objective was to strengthen Al Maryah Island’s global standing as a financial and lifestyle destination by providing internationally recognised hospitality and business amenities alongside Abu Dhabi Global Market.
